Since 2004, wood treated with quaternary alkaline copper (ACQ), azole copper (CA-B) or micronized copper azole (MCA) has replaced the old CCA-treated wood, which is now prohibited for residential projects. These new treatments, which are significantly less toxic, offer excellent protection against rot, insects and fungi, while being more environmentally friendly.

An eco-responsible choice
Goodfellow Terra® is certified as an environmentally preferable product by Scientific Certification Systems, thanks to its low environmental impact. It is also UL GREENGUARD Gold certified, confirming that it emits very few volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
🌍 Its environmental footprint is less than half that of traditional residential treated wood.
A warm appearance, inspired by exotic woods
During processing, the wood is infused with a natural brown pigment that enhances its grain and gives it a warm appearance similar to that of tropical woods. This rich color lasts for 2 to 3 years, depending on exposure, before fading naturally to a patinated gray tone.
To maintain the look of the wood, it is recommended to apply a water-repellent finish or stain as soon as the wood is dry to the touch. A matching sealant is also available for cuts and drillings. See our care guide for more information.
Compatible with modern materials
Thanks to its low corrosiveness, Goodfellow Terra® wood is compatible with standard metal fasteners for outdoor use. It can also be used in direct contact with aluminum elements, as long as prolonged sources of moisture such as immersion in standing water are avoided.
Avoid:
- Encapsulation or wrapping of wood with aluminum in humid environments
- Applications exposed to standing water (docks, spas, swimming pools)
